Draft and player signing rules
1. Teams that have participated in consecutive seasons and actively participated in the previous season are eligible to re-sign two previously signed players who have Thailand passports.
2. To be considered a Thai player, the player must have at least one parent with Thai heritage.
3. Players who live in Thailand but have any other visa statuses must be submitted into the draft each year and do not qualify as Thai players but as local players.
4. During the draft, teams will have the opportunity to select local or Thai players who wish to participate in the league from the draft pool.
5. All teams must invite any non-Thai player to submit their name in the draft for consideration to participate in the upcoming year.
6. Teams are only allowed to carry 12 players on their roster at any given time and may choose not to select a player when their turn comes in the draft.
7. All teams have the right to waive or trade a pick during the draft. They have 5 days from the draft to make such changes.
8. All player statuses must be updated no later than 15 days after the draft. Failure to update statuses will result in the player not being considered signed, and a $100 fee will be imposed on each infraction.
9. Each year, returning teams can retain two more Thai players than the previous season, gradually increasing the maximum number of Thai players they can keep on their roster. For example, in Season 2, teams can keep two Thai players, in Season 3, they can keep an additional two Thai players, totaling four, and so on. This increment continues until Season 6, where teams can keep a maximum of ten Thai players.
10. After the season begins, any drafted player who has not signed an official contract with a team will be designated as a free agent and can be signed by any team. Teams may also sign players who were on any team’s roster in previous seasons after the draft to fill roster gaps. However, if a Thai or legal expat player who has not previously played in the TEBA League or was not submitted into the draft pool is signed, the team will incur a $100 fine per player signed under these conditions.
